Anett Schallmey studied Biochemistry at the University of Greifswald in Germany. In 2007, she obtained her doctorate in Biotechnology with Prof. Uwe Bornscheuer at the University of Greifswald. After a 2-years postdoctoral training with Prof. Dick Janssen at the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), she was appointed Junior Professor for Biocatalysis at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany) in 2009. In February 2014, she was appointed Associate Professor for Biocatalysis at the Van t’Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). Since October 2014, Anett Schallmey is Professor for Biochemistry at the Institute for Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. Her research interests cover the identification, application and optimization of novel enzyme for the synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals as well as the biocatalytic valorization of biomass.
